FAMILY, FRIENDS AND UFOS IN ONE EPIC JOURNEY (yes, we caught the UFO on video)

Welcome back to Hourless Life where we're driving around the world.
In this episode, we’re diving into a mix of family moments, surprising encounters, and some fun adventures. Let’s get started!
We begin our travels in sunny Corpus Christi, Texas, where we get to hang out with our awesome parents. This visit was extra special with a surprise guest. We stumble upon a random, abandoned condo. 🏚️ Not our typical spot, but it added some excitement to our day. We even decided to stay for a night-talk about an interesting place to crash!
After our Texas adventures, we say a heartfelt goodbye to family and our family home of almost 30 years. From there, we catch a flight to Phoenix, Arizona. 🌵✈️ After landing, we hit the road again and head to beautiful Prescott to camp with overlanding friends. Because our adventures weren't wild enough, we had a crazy experience: we saw a UFO in the Arizona night sky! 🛸 It was a moment that left us all wondering.

    Nice clean setup, I wonder if you notice any extra noise while driving having the air flow under and over the pannels, compared to the old flexible pannels glued to Alu Cab top, especially driving highway speeds

    Tip #1 for driving through Mexico - don’t drive through Mexico

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife 12 днів тому

      I can't say I agree with this at all, and it is this type of discourse that attempts to dissuade people from living a life of adventure and cower in a life of fear. We've spent an EXTENSIVE time driving through Mexico, and we've had great experiences throughout the country. Sure there are true tales of bad things happening, but that happens all over the world. Did you know there are more carjackings in the city of Chicago than there are in the entire state of Veracruz Mexico? It's true. Look it up. But people go into cities like Chicago all the time without thinking twice. I think the uncertainty of another country combined with fearmongering gives Mexico a very bad reputation that is overwhelmingly undeserved. ~ Eric

    👍👍👍 Fun fun fun...that's what this video seemed to show. A few "bloops" along the way. Such are the scwabbles of family life. I'm so glad you are having a great time while here in the US and sharing it all with us. It was nice to get a glimpse of what Overland Expo was like (wow 30,000 people). This just lets us know how many people really WANT this alternative life style. I need to visit MOAB again and try Onion Creek (as far as our RV would go). I got my Global Entry (surprised you had not done this before) and TSA back in 2012 (I believe, could have been earlier because I travel to see my brother in Hawaii a lot) for a trip to Italy. It is SO MUCH faster, especially when we return from Europe (since Covid I've only traveled to Hawaii). I'm looking forward to your family reunions. Stay safe and have great travels. Funny - Caspian got excited for a moment when he thought you were traveling 1st class again.

    Somehow, spending around $55 for a scrubba bag isn’t very cost effective. Most of us don’t get free samples from the manufacturer. My camping isn’t glamping & don’t want, nor can I afford tents & kitchen items costing $400-$800 & dry bags for over $55 each. My camp clothing is for camping & easy to wash & most dry in a few hours or overnight.

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife Місяць тому

      Hey this is Eric, and I'd have to disagree with you, circumstances dependent. As full-timers (and for those who don't full-time but travel overland for long periods of time) investing in a Scrubba Bag is actually a great investment compared to the cost of doing a coin-op laundry over an extended period of time. We'd be easily at less than a nickel a wash with our Scrubba. Brittany tells me even less. At the end of the day it is personal preference and what works for you. We use it nearly daily on our journey and it has held up and been a great piece of kit for us. Remember, that we don't have a home to go back to with a washer. All the best. ~ Eric

    Goose Gear is nice stuff, but way over priced for a sheet of plywood.

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife Місяць тому

      Being that we use it every day under the harshest conditions, I will tell you that I swear by the work Goose Gear does. It is far more than a sheet of plywood. There are exacting measurements per platform that make the most of the usable space for the particular vehicle, and their proprietary lining which isn't just standard linex. We have been really hard on our stuff living in DAUNTLESS full-time now (with a kid) all the way down in Argentina and the Goose Gear has held up like new. Having said that, it is pricey and I've seen a lot of people do a budget version of it DIY. Having said that, I'm personally glad we went with it and have zero regrets. ~ Eric

    Hey I have a question, does TX not require annual inspections etc for your tags on the Gladiator? Just wondered about that, I assume you still have to 'renew' the tags. NC we have inspections so not sure how to handle that if we are gone for extended period.

      We haven't renewed anything (registration, etc) on DAUNTLESS as those regulations only apply in the USA. Having said that, if we ever ship DAUNTLESS back to the states there will likely be a fine (which I believe has a cap of like $100 in the State of Texas) for being late in getting our registration done. Ours may be 10+ years late 🤣 ~ Eric

      It has been quite a journey so far. We've been taking our time in the countries to really get to know the people, their culture, and their history. We took 2.5 years just to get to Mendoza, Argentina from the USA. Thanks for following along. On the off chance you are going to Overland Expo West this year, we'll be there presenting and parked in the Content Creator area near the Storyteller Pavilion. Would love to meet you. ~ Eric

    Wine must not be trivialized! Why else go to Argentina? I'd probably throw out tools, the spare tire and food to get more wine in the rig. ha ha Good to see you guys. Safe travels. That boy is looking good. He's a strong team member.

    Love these "Behind the scenes" videos, Eric and Brittany! Chock full of the really practical considerations we need to be aware of. Things we didn't even know we had to be aware of! I noticed your Red Oxx bags... I remember when you reviewed them at the start of your trip -- They look like they're holding up amazingly well!! In this video, they look practically brand new, but I can only imagine the day-to-day rigor they've endured. Looks like a buy once / cry once item that's worth the cost. I gotta check out Eric's burger joint when we get there!

      Hey Brian! Can't wait to hear about your journey and happy to be a continuing resource as well. Don't ever hesitate to reach out. Will you be at Overland Expo West this year? If so, hunt us down. Happy to hang out. As far as Red Oxx, in full transparency, they are one of our 28 gear sponsors. Having said that, I do swear by these bags. It is a Made in the USA, Veteran Owned company based out of Billings Montana. Get this, the bags are like new still. And the bags are guaranteed for the life of the BAG. Not your life, the life of the bag. So it truly is a buy once cry once item that you'll never regret purchasing because your great grandkids will be using them on their travels. Anyhow, stay in touch, and like I said, always feel free to reach out! ~ Eric

    This one seemed like a whirlwind...but it was worth getting to know all of the nitty gritty of when and how to travel for the best results and reasons; i.e. back to Santiago before heading to the US to avoid travel through the Andes during their winter. Mendoza sounds like a great place to visit. I hope it did not get too hot. Funny - Eric - learning about the "rhino" at the museum. The food looks fantastic.

      Hi Christopher! Yes, the food in Chile is amazing. We're actually back there now as I'm responding as we're getting ready to fly back to the States. Hopefully you saw my community post. Appreciate as always the kind words. So as of now, the plan after we've done what we're going to do in South America is to ship DAUNTLESS to South Africa and begin touring that continent next. But as always we'll stay flexible to what lies ahead, and be mindful of political situations in any region we're heading into. We have a long time left in South America if all goes well, so we'll see! ~ Eric
